A popular school located in Camden, London are seeking recent Graduate with degree to join the SEN department and assist in the SEN students.

We, as a company, work with many schools who are actively seeking Graduates with good A level and GCSE Maths and English grades who wish to become teachers in the future. The roles are 1 year and after 1 year or more you will be moved onto the SCITT School-centred initial teacher training programme. You must have GCSE Maths and English minimum C.

The ideal Graduate will be a clear communicator, dedicated, be a role model who and be passionate about building rapport with students. This role could lead you into a career within education, teaching, educational psychology or a range of other avenues.

The school is keen to secure a Graduate with a degree and good grades at Maths and English and are able to start a full-time role in September 2019.  The Teaching Assistant role includes supporting within the SEN department working with the SENCO and a range of Teaching Assistants. You will be working with a select 3 / 4 students who require additional support. You will be supporting in class during lessons, 1:1 sessions, running intervention groups and working with other departments.

As a new member of staff, you will be given an induction by Prospero and allocated a line manage in the school, guidance, and support if offered by the consultant at Prospero and also from the school. Training and CPD sessions are also offered. Resources at the school are fantastic; all departments are well resourced, have a supportive team and are keen to secure someone to essentially support them.

The school don’t have a high staff turnover but a well-established relationship with the North West London Consultant at Prospero Teaching who has a great understanding of the needs the school have within the SEN Department and have been asked to support their recruitment process. The role also offers the option of being permanent or on a contractual basis depending on the successful English Graduate ‘s needs.

Behaviour at the school is well managed, the teachers rely on the teaching assistants to support the lower ability, gifted and talented or more disruptive students to ensure the teaching and learning is happening effectively across levels. You will be informed of the behaviour management policy and the strategies in order to manage any challenges you may face, this will, in turn, build your knowledge and ability to manage behaviour more effectively should you wish to become a teacher in the future.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be exposed to students of various abilities, you will be required to support 3 or 4 students on a 1:1 and group basis. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be trained how to support these students, implement strategies to engage and stretch them, analyse data and build up your ability to raise attainment using skills, lesson plans, numeracy and literacy tasks to raise attainment. This will build your knowledge of the education sector, National Curriculum, how students are monitored, data is analysed and attainment is raised and students are managed more effectively by teachers.

Graduate Teaching Assistant hours and pay

You will be required to work 5 full days a week between the hours of 8.20am and 3.30pm, Monday – Friday.

Pay is paid on a daily rate at £80 per day.
