When is the best time to arrive in the UK?
The best time to arrive or teaching in the UK really depends on what type of work you chose to do. If you want a full-time role, these usually start at the beginning of a new term, either September or January. Supply work is much more flexible and you can move over whenever you like, although your country consultant will advise when the best times are.
When are the school holidays?
The UK has three terms in the academic year, starting in September and finishing around mid-July. Each term is approximately 12 weeks with a one-week half-term break in the middle. To see the term dates for this academic year click here.
Does it cost me to work with an agency?
No! You will need to cover your relocation costs but Prospero Teaching does NOT charge you a fee to find you work.
Do I have to register with an agency before I arrive in the UK?
No, you don’t, but it’s a lot more difficult and time-consuming to do it on your own. If you register with us, we ensure that you have all the correct compliance documents in place prior to arriving so you can start teaching right away.
How much will I be paid?
How much you get paid will vary depending on the type of work you do, the location of your school and how many years of experience you have. Teachers doing daily supply or contract work through Prospero Teaching will be paid on a daily pay rate. Those that take on a permanent role will be paid according to the Main PayScale.
Does Prospero Teaching provide accommodation?
We don’t provide accommodation, but we will offer support to help you find a place. Our UK support staff can give you advice on what areas are good for you, how much to spend and suggest websites to check out. Most teachers prefer to book temporary accommodation, like an Air BnB, to start, the seek out a more long-term option once they arrive.
How do the year groups work in the UK?
I dont want to commit to one role, can I be flexible?
