Prospero Teaching's Prize Winning Teacher

Post by: Prospero | June 06, 2017

As the best Teaching Agency in the UK, we pride ourselves on Teacher satisfaction and quite often we send out questionnaires to our teachers to get a feel for what they’re thinking and how we can provide them with a better service.

We had the chance to ask one of our most popular London Primary Teacher a few questions to get to know her better and hear her teaching story. (Also to give her a brand new iPad Pro in gold(!) to help her with her classroom planning) Here’s what she told us and here’s the joy on her face when we handed her, her new iPad.

Why did you choose to work with Prospero Teaching?

”There’s just a different level of warmth with Prospero Teaching, I’ve been with many agencies in my time and have never felt as much care and attention than I have here”

Why did you decide to become a Teacher?

” I decided it was the most necessary and the most worthwhile career move I could make; as the years have gone by I’ve moved to many schools and I still find it the most valuable thing one could do. We don’t manufacture goods, or sell items. We help people achieve their goals and aspirations.”

What motivates you to teach every day?

I love giving people a chance and in most cases second chances. Not giving up on a person and believing in their abilities gives me great pleasure”

What’s your most favourite classroom moments?

”Talking to children about life is a key point in my classroom. A good example for me is reading Marian Williamson’s ‘A Return To Love’

What do you say to non-teachers who say Teachers have a 6 week holiday?

”We need it to stop us from having a nervous breakdown! I have a big family and church commitments but I prepare my work during the summer months.”

What’s one of your Teacher success stories?

”There’s one particular boy who was problematic. He was sat on his own one day and I moved him because he was disrupting others. After a few weeks of teaching him I moved him to the front and gave him a task where he had to finish a story as he hadn’t been doing what I’d asked. I asked him to go up to chapter two and give me a summary of the book in 10 points or less, which he did. I then told him I would read it to the class – and the joy in his eyes when I said this after valuing his work and praising him. From that point on the work he did was vastly improved and that was a lovely moment in my teaching career.”
