Charity Run for The Neuroblastoma Society – join us!

Neuroblastoma logo

As a keen runner myself, I have been badgering our Managing Director about doing a charity 10k run. We are therefore running the Regent’s Park 10k on Sunday 5th July in order to raise money for The Neuroblastoma Society. So far, about 20 members of staff are taking part.

We are also welcoming any of our registered teachers or support staff who would like to run with us – if you are interested in joining us on the 5th July then just email me on expressing your interest and I will get back to you.

Why we are taking part

Neuroblastoma is a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer, mostly affecting children up to the age of 14 years. About 100 children in the UK are diagnosed with it each year, and due to this there is a significant lack of funding; The Neuroblastoma Society relies entirely on donations in order to carry out its work.

The Neuroblastoma Society is a cause very close to our hearts, as the daughter of a friend of a senior member of staff is currently suffering from the illness. Here at Prospero Teaching we want to do what we can in order to support the work of this excellent charity, and have chosen to run the Regent’s Park 10k to raise vital funds.

The charity’s sole purpose is the relief of children suffering from neuroblastoma, and to achieve this it raises funds for medical research into improving both diagnosis and treatment of the disease. The Society also offers an opportunity for parents to give each other mutual help, support and comfort. The charity is special in that due to being staffed entirely by volunteers, 95% of money donated goes directly to those who need it most, whether that is medical researchers or to provide information and comfort for families and their children. This means that you can donate safe in the knowledge that your money is going straight towards the cause you are supporting. If you would like to find out more about their great work, then you can do so here:

Our goal

Our aim is to raise £10,000 for The Neuroblastoma Society – £1000 for every kilometre! This may seem like a lot of money, but we think that if everyone shares the link to our fundraising page on their social media accounts, and donates even a small amount, then we can reach our target and contribute to improving the lives of the children and families suffering the effects of this harrowing illness.

How you can help

If you would like to donate, or would consider sharing the link, then please visit our page: Anything you can donate is hugely appreciated and we are very grateful for everyone’s support and interest.

Lastly, a BIG thank you to our suppliers who have donated so far – RACS and Gift Selection.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this and support us and The Neuroblastoma Society.
