Raising funds for Eleri Hooper

Eleri Hooper is a very keen gymnast

Chris has known Eleri’s parents Beth and Rob for over 20 years and placed Beth (a fantastic Secondary Teacher) on more than one occasion.  He said

“The Taff Trail challenge seems like a small mileage (55 miles) but this is done on a mountain bike, on canal paths, single track and mountain sides, not a road bike that would eat up this distance in no time.

This will be a long day for me, but this challenge is nothing compared to the one that Eleri is currently undertaking.”

The money raised is not just for the Hooper family, but also for the amazing hospital that Eleri will be treated in over the next year and the charities who will support her.

To those of you in Bristol and London who’ve already sponsored me I’d like to say a HUGE thank you on behalf of Eleri and her family.  And to those of you who’d like to know more you can find info about Eleri, her treatment, family in their blog and follow them on Instagram @whoinvitedcancer.

Thank you in advance.”

Eleri is usually a very active 7 year old and was, until 23rd December 2017, when she first complained about a pain in her leg. The local doctor told her not to worry as it was probably just growing pains. In March 2018 after 3 further visits to GPs in both Wales and Fairford, Eleri’s parents made the decision to take her to their local casualty department to get her checked out. It turned out that those ‘growing pains’ were actually the pain of a very rare form of bone cancer called Osteosarcoma.

Osteosarcoma is a particularly aggressive cancer and between 25-30 people between the ages of 10-25 are diagnosed a year.  So in a girl of Eleri’s age, it is even more rare.

If you’d like to help Eleri and sponsor Chris you can do so at Chris’s JustGiving page.
